Alley gating Public Space Protection Orders

Alley gating Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs), previously known as Manchester's Gating Orders, allowed for alley gates to be put up to restrict access to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, improving the security of the surrounding properties. Residents were provided with keys to access the gates. You can report damage to alley gates and see how to request replacement keys at www.manchester.gov.uk/alleygates. A number of the original sealed orders can be downloaded online from https://www.manchester.gov.uk/agsealedorders

Under the legislation, all PSPOs must be reviewed and, if appropriate, extended every 3 years. These orders were last reviewed in October 2023 and are extended until 20 October 2026.
