Phone books

  1. What's available

    BT Archives have a historic phone book collection which includes British phone books published between 1880 (the year after the public telephone service was introduced) and 1984. These phone books are also available at Ancestry. Free access is available at any of our libraries.

    At Central Library we hold an almost complete collection of phone books and Yellow Pages from 1984 to recent years. Yellow pages for our city comes in three volumes (North, Central and South), note the volume you're interested in.

    Phone books can bee viewed in the search room at Central Library, please make an appointment (with at least one day notice).
