  1. We hold a large collection of school records for the city.

  2. What's available

    We hold:

    • Surviving admission registers c.1870 to c.1916 for our schools on findmypast. Free access is available at any of our libraries.
    • The majority of pre-1925 admission registers are on microfilm
    • Minutes and newspaper cuttings of the School Board 1870-1904 (ref GB127.M65)
    • Education Committee Council minutes 1903 to 1988 (ref GB127.Council Minutes/Education)
    • Teachers records from the Education department 1930s to 1951 (ref GB127.M428)

     

  3. How to access

    Records on microfilm are available on the ground floor at Central Library, no appointment needed.

    Resources marked with GB are available in the search room, please make an appointment.
