  4. About this library

    As volunteers, we’ve put the library at the very heart of our community hub – The Place at Platt Lane. For 18 hours a week you can get your books and use the internet computers, printers and scanners. And you’re welcome to join us, seven days a week for other activities including IT sessions, crafts, reading groups, children’s story times, and homework club for 8-16 year olds.

    You can access our vast book, CD and DVD collections here. Just reserve items online and we'll deliver them to this library. 

    There's always something going on here, including regular events, free wifi and computer access, reading groups and children’s activities.

    The library is supported by volunteers, if you're interested in volunteering visit our pages.

    Computer access within the library will shut down 15 minutes before the library closes.

    • Monday 1-7pm;
    • Tuesday closed;
    • Wednesday 2-5pm;
    • Thursday 10am-1pm and 2-5pm;
    • Friday 2-5pm;
    • Saturday 10am-3pm

    Bank holidays we are closed.

    Computer access within the library will shut down 15 minutes before the library closes.

    • Friday 27 December: 2pm to 5pm
    • Saturday 28 December: 10am to 3pm
    • Sunday: closed
    • Monday 30 December: 1pm to 5pm

    • Valuing Older People group (Forever Young) - Monday 1-3pm;
    • Tiny tots and toddler time, every Thursday 10.30-11am (term time only);
    • Valuing Older People IT coffee morning - Friday 11am-1pm; and
    • Councillor surgery, no appointment needed, just drop in - Monday 5.30-6.30pm
    • We have a reading group that meets on the last Wednesday of the month 10.30am-12noon - everyone is welcome. We are an informal friendly group. Don’t be shy! New members warmly welcomed. Free refreshments.
