Stargazing at Heaton Park

Heaton Park Astronomy Group meetings are held in the Bowls Pavilion between 7pm and 9pm every Thursday during the winter months.

The meetings are free to attend and suitable for all ages - though under 16s should be accompanied by an adult.

They're a very friendly, informal community group.  Newcomers are always made welcome, whether complete beginners or those who already have some knowledge of astronomy.

The group hold talks and discussions on various aspects of Stargazing and when the sky is clear we go outside and use telescopes and binoculars to observe whatever planets, nebulae and other interesting celestial objects are currently on view.

They typically have at least four or five telescopes set up and encourage anyone without a telescope to have a look through on a clear night.

There is disabled access to the meeting room, viewing area and toilets.

Refreshments are available.
