Community cricket match celebrating the Cricket World Cup fixture that takes place two days later.
India -v- Pakistan cricket fixtures are considered one of - if not the - highest profile sporting fixtures in the world, attracting TV audiences of well over a billion. The next match is taking place in Manchester during the Cricket World Cup and represents the pinnacle of the sport.
By way of celebration, this community cricket event takes place at Alexandra Park, preceding the 'proper' fixture by two days. County clubs, like Lancashire, have been working with south Asian communities as part of the English and Welsh Cricket Board's Core City Programme, which aims to attract and support participation into the game from south Asian communities.
The idea for a community event came from local representatives, and will allow local people to celebrate the world cup competition in a shared, vibrant community space.
