Business and investment Our Manchester Graduate Scheme

What is this ?

The Our Manchester Graduate Scheme supports graduates into excellent careers within local businesses, whilst also giving them the opportunity to undertake CPD (Continuing Professional Development) training provided by the council.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will have access to recent graduate talent and the skills, ideas and new perspectives they can bring to the business. Whether you are planning to grow your business, have a skills gap or are thinking about succession planning, employing graduates can provide a solution to many recruitment needs.

Our Manchester Graduate Scheme is a collaborative initiative between Manchester City Council and Manchester Metropolitan University.

How does it work?

You will be supported with funding, graduate attraction, recruitment and selection. The business will then offers a 12-month graduate opportunity with the potential for the role to become permanent. The University advertises the role, manages applications and sends them to the hiring manager for shortlisting. The business will let the University know the details of the successful candidate and arrange a start date.

Upon starting in the role, the graduate will have access to regular CPD training provided by the Council. The business will offer regular one-to-one meetings with the graduate, discussing progression and providing feedback.
