Keep Manchester Tidy is about bringing everyone - residents, schools, businesses, public bodies - together to:
- tackle all forms of littering
- reduce dog-fouling
- improve our green spaces and waterways.
- increase recycling
Everyone can help to keep our city tidy. Whether you get involved in an organised event like the Great British Spring Clean or by picking up litter that you see in the street, it all helps to make our environment a better place.
Keep Manchester Tidy is a partnership between us and Keep Britain Tidy. Our goal is to make Manchester the country's first 'Tidy City' by 2020.
Residents have been so active in keeping Manchester tidy that the city won the Great British Spring Clean award at the 2019 Keep Britain Tidy Network Conference & Awards, with local volunteer Claire Benson being shortlisted for the #LitterHeroes Award for her prolific work in the community. We need as many people, businesses and organisations as possible to get involved.
How to get involved
Residents are invited to become #LitterHeroes – volunteers working to keep their public spaces clean - by taking part in and hosting litter picks and clean-ups in their local area. You can find out how your local neighbourhood team might be able to provide you with cleaning materials by contacting them on social media
- Join a clean-up in your area
- Sign up to host a clean-up
- Join the Facebook group to connect to follow volunteers and see what events are coming up
If you or your community group is planning a project that will benefit your local community, you can also apply for a neighbourhood investment fund.
