Schools, education and childcare Apply for a secondary school cycle voucher

Who can get one

If they qualify, secondary school children can choose to get a voucher towards the cost of a new bike instead of a pass.

Children in Year 7 to Year 10 get £180, Year 11 children get £90.

All children must have complete level 2 Bikeability.

These children may be able to get a cycle voucher:

  • Manchester residents at a state funded Manchester secondary school more than 3 miles but less than 15 miles from home if there is no nearer, similar school.
  • Children who have ever been 'looked after' by Manchester City Council, including children in care, fostered or adopted, whose school is more than 2 miles from their home.
  • Children, at a non faith school 2 to 6 miles from home, who get free school meals, or whose parents get maximum Working Tax Credits if there are less than 3 nearer, similar schools nearby.
  • Children at a faith school that is between 2 and 15 miles from home who get free school meals, or whose parents get maximum Working Tax Credits.
