Search for a taxi rank in Manchester

We provide taxi ranks or hackney carriage stands where taxis may wait for customers.

They are provided where a demand has been identified, such as outside large establishments like hospitals, hotels, night clubs, bus and rail stations or at locations where the public or taxi operators have suggested they would be beneficial.

Ranks can be operational for 24 hours or part time, such as evening only.  Some city centre ranks are supported by taxi marshals during the busy weekend hours.

Official taxi ranks may be used by any hackney carriage (black cab) but may not be used by private hire vehicles.

New ranks are constructed and changes made to existing ranks in consultation with taxi drivers and their representatives, local residents, traders and anyone else who may be affected by any proposed changes. Public notices are issued in the local press and posted on adjacent lamp posts before any changes are made.

To discuss an existing taxi rank or suggestion of a new taxi rank, please contact us.
