I can imagine being a foster carer is difficult – trying to understand what young people like me are going through. The best trait a foster carer could have is actually caring. Something so small, but it makes a huge difference!
They should also be patient and understanding. It’s hard to adapt to a new life. You need time to heal. It’s unimaginable what some young people have gone through, so foster carers should understand that this will impact on how the young person acts, and they should support them through the difficult transitions in life, while also giving them their own space.
