Consultations and surveys Budget 2020/21

Neighbourhoods

Our budget for services keeping our neighbourhoods clean, safe, and pleasant to live in must reduce in 2020/21 from £98.495million to £93.802million. But we will protect front-line neighbourhood services such as road improvements, waste, recycling and litter, and also the libraries, galleries and parks that keep us and our neighbourhoods healthy and happy. We’re looking for ways to reduce pressures by greater efficiencies and growing income from our business units and commercial opportunities. We have found £2.324million of savings to fund priorities in social care, children’s services and homelessness.

Our £93.802m budget for 2020/21 includes:

  • £14.396m keeping roads and pavements in good order
  • £10.534m keeping communities safe and enforcing regulations
  • £9.163m on libraries, galleries and culture
  • £7.475m on parks, leisure, youth and events
  • £48.118m on vital services including waste, recycling, street cleaning, litter and fly-tipping
  • £2.543m on Neighbourhood Teams keeping local areas ticking
  • £1.573m running and supporting our teams and services.
