Safer roads for Beswick phase two
This consultation is now closed.
In June, we carried out a consultation with residents and businesses in Beswick about proposed measures to make the area safer and more pleasant for people to walk and cycle. We sent a map and information about what the measures could be to every property in the affected area, and also held public events, and invited people to share their thoughts by email and through an online survey.
The aim is to:
- Make journeys to and from schools safer
- Have fewer people ‘cutting through’ the area to get to their destination outside it
- Create an ‘active neighbourhood’ based around an area which can be crossed in a 10 minute walk.
- Reduce car use for short journeys, with more people cycling and walking instead
- Get more people walking and cycling overall
As a result of the comments we received, we have now split the measures into two phases.
