Consultations and surveys Greater Manchester’s plan for homes, jobs and the environment

The final consultation of Greater Manchester’s Plan for Homes, Jobs and the Environment: (the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework Publication Plan 2020) will run from December 1, 2020 to January 26, 2021.

The plan will go to the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA) Executive Board on October 30, 2020 and then subsequently to the 10 Greater Manchester Councils for approval, prior to the launch of the formal consultation.

You can view the draft plan on the AGMA site and and all supporting information can be found on Greater Manchester Combined Authorities website

This is the final consultation before the plan is submitted to the Secretary of State for examination , and it is more technical that previous rounds. The Government requires us to ask people whether our plans, and the evidence on which they are based, meet national planning law requirements – these are called the “tests of soundness”.

This is what we will be consulting on and this will be clearly explained in the consultation, which will be available to respond to at the GMCA (Greater Manchester Combined Authority) site.

Vist the GMCA site and see what other consultations are currently running.

  • Seeking to achieve a carbon neutral performance in new and existing development by no later than 2038;
  • Policies across a range of other themes including flood risk, water resources, air quality, economic and housing matters, heritage, culture, education and skills, health, and sport and recreation; and
  • Specific allocations identified in the plan for Manchester for new jobs at the airport and Wythenshawe Hospital; and new housing at Southwick Park.
