Consultations and surveys Stevenson Square consultation

This consultation is now closed
In 2019, we started to consult around plans to improve walking and cycling in the Northern Quarter.

More than 600 people shared their thoughts with us as part of this consultation, which informed changes to the design.

Local businesses and residents expressed support for fully pedestrianising Stevenson Square at this stage, however this will need to be balanced against feedback from all road user's and the need for key public transport routes through the city centre to be maintained for the benefit of passengers

We are now seeking your views on what Stevenson Square could look like, and what you would like to see there. The sort of changes which we could make could include:

  • better features for cyclists
  • less on street parking
  • more trees and pleasant public spaces
  • nicer walkways and improved surfaces
  • cycle signals
  • sustainable drainage - flower beds and tree pits which collect and recycle water
  • removal of the toilet block to allow better use of the space, and look at creation of an alternative space for artists

Have your say
