Social services Community alarms and assistive technology

We can install an alarm to help you to remain safe and independent in your own home and have the peace of mind that in an emergency, such as a fall, you can get help.

Anyone can have a community alarm, they are installed free, with two levels of service:

Monitoring only - £2.83 per week

If you press your alarm button, or a sensor triggers, our operator will speak to you to give advice and reassurance.

If you need further assistance, we’ll get in touch with one of the two emergency contacts you’ve given us, or if it’s more serious, we'll call for emergency services.

Your two emergency contacts who should be key holders, and could be family, friends or neighbours who have agreed we can contact them 24 hours a day in an emergency. If you don’t have two emergency contacts, our Monitoring and Response option might be better for you.

Monitoring and response - £4.68 per week

In addition to the 'monitoring only' service, our response officers, trained in how to lift and move people safely, will visit you. We would still arrange for one of the blue light services to attend if it’s serious.

We will also install a police-approved key safe our response officers can get into your home quickly and safely, so we can help emergency services get in without forcing entry.

'Plug and Go' installation

If you have someone who could come to collect the alarm to set up at home yourself, you could use our Plug and Go service. In some cases, the alarm can be up and running in your home the same day.

Other monitoring equipment (assistive technology)

There could be lots of other things to help you keep doing what you do, your way, including Equipment and Adaptations to let someone know if you need to help. Just call us to discuss. 0161 234 5001.
