Renting an allotment
Allotment site waiting lists - March 2021
All our allotment sites have a waiting list. Because of the very high demand during the Covid-19 lockdown, all these lists are currently closed to new applications. However, if you applied via our website before 30 October 2020 we will contact you when a plot becomes available. You may have to wait up to 4 years to be offered a plot; and we are unable to update you on your position on the waiting list.
Growing Manchester is a community food growing programme that helps to support local people and food growing projects to achieve our shared ambition to grow and live sustainably. Find out more on joining a local food growing group
We apologise for the severe delay in invoicing:
- Invoices for 2019/2020 are now being processed and all queries have been logged
- Invoices for 2020/2021 will be processed in May 2021
- Invoices for 2021/22 will be processed in October 2021
Please ensure we have your current contact details.
During the COVID-19 lockdown many plot holders have found it difficult to maintain their allotment: if this includes you, please contact your site Society, or the Allotments team, and discuss your options. Help may be available for you to bring your plot into full use again; or an alternative plot may be available. These are unusual times and we want to make sure everyone has the support they need.
Please advise us in writing to firstname.lastname@example.org if you wish to surrender your plot.
The rent is charged as an annual fee, usually invoiced in October each year by us, for payment on 1 November; the charge for 2020/2021 is 22p per square metre.
Rent increase notice
From 1 November 2021, allotment rents will increase by 1p to 23p per square metre (for the year 2021/22)
Concessions on one plot are available for Manchester residents who are:
- aged 60 and above
- Universal Credit claimants
- disabled plot holders
