The Manchester Open Space, Sport and Recreation Study is an assessment of existing open space, sport and recreation provision and of current and future needs. It was carried out in accordance with PPG17 and published in August 2009.
Zero-Carbon Manchester is the climate change action plan for Manchester, drawn up by and for the Council, its partners and the wider community.
The AGMA Decentralised Energy Study Executive Summary provided an evidence base for all ten districts in Greater Manchester to enable minimum targets to be set for low and zero carbon energy. It looked at the existing energy mix, the potential for renewable energy and the planning actions required for delivering lower carbon development and growth across Greater Manchester.

The Tree Strategy sets out how Manchester’s tree resource will be consistently improved and managed.
Sites of Biological importance (SBIs) are a local (sub-regional) designation, kept under regular review by the Greater Manchester Ecology Unit (GMEU).
Local Nature Reserves (LNRs) are declared locally, for both people and wildlife, and must be of importance for wildlife, geology, education or public enjoyment.
Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) are the country's best wildlife, geological and physiographical sites, designated by Natural England and protected under the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981.
Greater Manchester Air Quality Plan (AQAP) (2004) contains information on air quality for individual Local Authorities (Manchester is in Annex 3), and annual progress reports for Manchester.
The Strategic Flood Risk Assessment – Manchester Salford Trafford This Hybrid Level 1 and Level 2 Strategic Flood Risk Assessment was produced jointly by the three districts to help inform future developments in terms of flood risk.
The River Basin Management Plan North West River Basin District (December 2009) was produced to fulfil the requirements of the European Water Framework Directive, and sets out how water quality pressures will be addressed in the North West up to 2015.
The Strategic Level City-Wide Urban Characterisation for Core Strategy was produced by the Council in order to understand how the local character of different areas varies across Manchester and needs to be addressed by proposals for new development.
