Photographs
Use our Local images collection to find images of the various ethnicities. Pictures featuring people of a recognisably different ethnic background were systematically recorded as 'black-men', 'black-women', 'black-children' and so on.
A great many of the photographs were taken in the period 1950 to 1975 to record areas before they were demolished, and local residents were often captured as part of the scene.
