Piccadilly Gardens

Piccadilly Gardens on a sunny day full of people enjoying the open space.

Piccadilly Gardens is a key entry point to the heart of Manchester. It’s one of our city centre’s busiest open spaces. It’s a central hub used by people to get to work and to get around the city. And it provides an outdoor area for meeting and socialising.

We have big plans for the future of the ten-acre site. They include the streets bordering Piccadilly Gardens:

  • Mosley Street
  • Parker Street
  • Piccadilly
  • Portland Street

Residents told us they want Piccadilly Gardens to be a special place with a strong sense of identity. They want it to be welcoming and uniquely Mancunian. A place for all – fully accessible and with space for children to play.

A Manchester firm, LDA Design, won our design competition. Their designs will embrace the things people told us are important to them. We’ll share these first designs in 2024.

Piccadilly Gardens is home to the popular Street Food Market. It offers fresh food from some of the region's best street vendors. It's on every Wednesday to Saturday from 11am to 5.30pm.

Early in 2024, we'll carry out annual maintenance to get the area ready for the warmer months. Some areas will be fenced off while we do this work.
