Summary

The Great Northern Warehouse site is of major significance within the city centre’s Civic Quarter, making it vital that it is redeveloped comprehensively and to the highest quality standards. The site provides the potential for redevelopment which makes an important contribution to the city centre, adding to the offer of high quality leisure facilities and employment opportunities.

This draft updated Framework focuses on updating previous proposals for the Great Northern Warehouse, to respond to changing market conditions and the surrounding development context. This update incorporates additional office space in place of the previously envisaged residential use, to help meet the need for further quality office space in the city centre and minimise the impact on the Great Northern Warehouse building.
