Your priorities: school crossings

We’re investing £808,000 over the next two years to make school crossings safer.

We’re designing a custom-made solution for each that could include traffic lights, zebra crossings, railings and slowing-up vehicles in the area.

Our investments are expected to improve the safety of some crossings enough to take them out of the higher-risk ‘red’ and ‘amber’ categories that require school crossing patrols, allowing savings in future years.

We fund 86 school crossing patrols at sites we regard as the highest risk. Nine other crossings have patrols funded by schools.
