The Council and democracy A budget based on what you said

Your priorities: children in care

There’s no bigger priority for the Council than our children and young people. We’re using use our spending to:

  • find safe, stable and loving homes for those who need them;
  • reduce the numbers in care;
  • make sure they have the best start in the first years of life; and
  • see that they can fulfil their potential, attend a good school and take advantage of the opportunities in the city.

We’re also concentrating on improving social care for children which will lead to fewer children in care and in need.

We’ll build on investments that are already improving services for children in care and in the early help needed to safely reduce their numbers, such as a further £10million we’ve put into frontline social work.
