Homes and property Building safety pledge

What is it ?

The Council is one of the local authorities that has signed the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s (MHCLG) Pledge to ensure necessary building safety improvements can continue during the pandemic.

Why ?

The pledge is a commitment to ensure that, where this can be done safely and in line with public health guidance, vitally needed building safety improvements and works to make buildings more safe can continue. Work such as  fixing high-rise buildings with unsafe cladding can therefore continue during the pandemic, which will ensure that the safety of those living in high-rise buildings with unsafe cladding is prioritized.

By signing the pledge the Council is then named an ‘early adopter’ of the Hackitt Review’s recommendations for building safety.
