Parking Christie residents parking zone extension

Scheme information

This consultation closed on 13 March 2020.

Thanks to everyone that responded. All comments will be considered and will inform the design.

The initial design, which was presented in the consultation, is not a final or finished design: further development will now be made, based on the feedback we received.

This included the views of more than a thousand local residents, and additional local knowledge, which we're now analysing. When we have a revised design we will explain what changes have been made as a result of the consultation. If a number of people have suggested something but there is a reason that we cannot do it, we will also explain this.

The Christie is the largest single-site cancer centre in Europe and is currently undergoing expansion of the medical facilities it provides.

A Resident Parking Zone (RPZ) was implemented in 2015 and has proved to be successful in addressing the impact of parking on the surrounding residential areas.  However, it has caused displaced parking issues in the wider neighbourhood and with the on-going expansion staff and visitor numbers are forecast to increase further in future years.  Therefore, an extension to the RPZ is proposed to address and future proof against these issues.

The restrictions have been designed to discourage parking generated by the hospital to make it easier for residents to park close to their homes as well as improve road safety and the flow of traffic.
