Apprenticeships

General apprenticeships

Apprenticeships on the Our Town Hall Project are offered across a variety of trades and disciplines. They range from Level 2 up to Level 6 degree level apprenticeships. Every apprentice on the project earns a minimum of the Real Living Wage.

The project has been responsible for more than 150 apprenticeships so far. The apprentices have come from all over Manchester. They've benefitted from a kickstart to their careers in traditional trades such as stonemasonry, lime plastering and mosaic tiling.

The Our Town Hall Project is already well under way but we still have opportunities available. These include trades such as joinery or painting and decorating.

To register your interest in a general apprenticeship, email your CV to ourtownhall@manchester.gov.uk. You can find out more about apprenticeships at the GM Apprenticeship Hub

PlanBEE apprenticeships

PlanBEE Manchester was launched in 2021 by Manchester City Council and Manchester Life, with Ryder Architecture and in collaboration with employers from across the city. The scheme provides Manchester residents with the opportunity to begin a career in construction while working across a variety of projects in the city. We're already planning for the next cohort of PlanBEE apprentices, who will work on a number of projects in the city including the Our Town Hall Project to restore, repair, and partially refurbish Manchester Town Hall, as well as Manchester Life’s developments in Ancoats.

A two-year multi-disciplinary programme, PlanBEE Manchester will help meet the need for skilled employees in the North West construction sector and equip young people to thrive in the industry, which is rapidly evolving with new construction methods and technologies.

Who can apply

Anyone over 18 and living in a Manchester City Council postcode that wants to establish their career in the construction sector is invited to apply.

What you'll learn

Successful candidates will be taught multiple disciplines within the sector including:
