Small business grants - update

Last updated 1.36pm, Tuesday 30 June

As of 30 June, 2020, we have paid out 7,818 grants worth £97.8m. This comprises 84% of Retail Leisure and Entertainment (RLE) Grants totalling £38.3m in and 88% of Small Business Rates Relief Grants totalling £59.5m.

We are now confident that we have processed all of the applications we have received for Retail Leisure and Entertainment (RLE) Grants and Small Business Rates Relief Grants and either paid out the full grant, refused any ineligible grants or contacted the applicant where further information is required.

We have emailed a number of businesses where we require additional information or evidence in support of their application. If you have received an email from us, please reply with the information as soon as possible in order for us to finish processing your application.

If you have applied for a grant, but not yet heard back from us, please email us at  brgrants@manchester.gov.uk as soon as possible with the details and date your application as submitted.

Discretionary grants for small businesses

The Government has introduced an additional fund aimed at small businesses with ongoing, fixed property-related costs who are ineligible for the Small Business Grant or the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant due to either not having a rates liability or not meeting the specified criteria.

We are currently awaiting for confirmation of our funding allocation and the final guidance on eligibility criteria from the Government. As soon as we have this information we will publish it online and via our social media channels.
