Health and Social Care
These services help people who most need support to live as independently as possible. The current budget for Adult Social Care and Public Health is £219m.
Our health services are increasingly joined up with shared budgets, alongside NHS partners who provide and shape adult health and care services in our community.
The Council decides how much it puts into the pooled health and social care yearly budget for Manchester of around £1.2 billion.
For 2021/22 our contribution will increase by £4.9m.
Our budget will include £13.464m to cover estimated ongoing costs from COVID-19 covering:
- £9.3m cost of discharges from hospital
- £2.5m for personal protective equipment
- £0.8m social work capacity
- £0.8m population health
Our budgets will also cover:
- £3.6m for inflation allowance for National Living Wage
- £2.8m for changes in the population such as ageing
Total: £19.9m
Transformation
We aim to save £18.4m over 3 years by transforming how we work so that fewer people need nursing and residential care, fewer people are in supported accommodation and more are being cared for at home, with more people supported to live more independently for longer.
Early Help will continue to reduce need and strengthen access to the right kind of care at the right time.
