Parks, leisure and the arts Blackburn Park Conservation Area

Improvement and enhancement

Although the boundary of Blackburn Park is formed by busy main roads, the area within is relatively quiet and free from the damaging effects of traffic vibration and pollution. A great variety of building materials are used in Blackburn Park, and these solid, traditional materials should be used in preference to cladding, concrete, glass or plastic. Plastic may be used if limited to shop signs. Signs and any security arrangements should be carefully designed so as not to compete with or conceal the architectural details of buildings. External solid roller shutters will not normally be permitted.
