Introduction
Crab Lane is a narrow, winding road traversing a small hill in Higher Blackley, which is located approximately four miles north of the city centre. The name Blackley derives from Bleak Field or Bleak Lea. There are several smaller side roads and footpaths which form the basis of a village.
The Crab Lane Conservation Area was designated in December 1983, when the boundary was drawn to include open space to the east and west of Crab Lane.
