Trees
All trees in conservation areas are protected by legislation. Those planted in the gardens and pavements of the Whalley Range conservation area have matured and they make a significant contribution to the character of the area, providing an interesting interplay with the brick and stone buildings.
Regular maintenance and pruning is required and when they have grown too large or succumbed to disease, anyone considering pruning or felling trees should be aware that formal consent is usually required, and must therefore contact the South Area Team. This will ensure that action can be agreed on the most appropriate ways to carry out work in a sympathetic manner.
Anyone wishing to fell, prune or uproot a tree covered by a Tree Preservation Order or in a Conservation Area should seek permission first from us before undertaking any work to the tree.
