For other ceremonies, an initial, non-refundable, deposit will need to be paid when the ceremony is booked. (£40 for an enhanced ceremony in the Pankhurst Suite, £100 for ceremonies at other licensed venues)
The balance of the fees must be paid 3 months before the date of your civil partnership. (If you book your civil partnership within 3 months of the date, the full fee will be payable at the time of booking and will be non-refundable) You can pay the balance of your fees on-line.
Designing your ceremony
If you choose to have an enhanced ceremony, you will be able to have some choice about the content of the ceremony.
Before the ceremony a Registrar will check the details given at the time of notice are still correct, as this information will be recorded in the schedule and on your civil partnership certificate. You have the option of doing this together or separately.
The Celebrant will begin by welcoming you and your guests followed by the traditional partnership ceremony introduction.
If you have chosen to have the Standard Ceremony, at the standard ceremony fee (see above), then the rest of the ceremony will be the basic standard ceremony with no readings or music.
If you have chosen to have a more personal, Enhanced Ceremony, in the Pankhurst Suite or at an approved premises, then you will be able to make some choices about the content of the ceremony, using our online ceremony planner (you will be provided with a username and password at the time of booking your ceremony), or where necessary the pack can be provided in booklet form with a checklist to complete and return. During the ceremony you may include some readings. Any readings need to be submitted to the Ceremonies Section at least one month before the ceremony so that we can check its suitability (e.g. no religious content).
If your ceremony is in the Pankhurst Suite you are welcome to have music played whilst making an entrance and during the signing of the schedule. We have a selection of music but may not have your choice, so feel free to bring your own CD or arrange 'live' music. Please note that the music cannot be religious in nature.
At approved premises you will need to liaise with the management about the availability and facilities for music.
How long will the ceremony be?
The length of the ceremony will be dependent upon the choices you have made and any readings you have included, creating a unique occasion for you and your guests to remember, so no two ceremonies are the same.
