With the long summer holidays from school now just around the corner a bumper programme of summer fun activities for children and young people of all ages kicks off next week at venues across the city.

After another stop-start year of lockdowns and isolations, the council has worked with local partners to put together a packed programme of things to do once schools are closed - many of them free of charge.

The city's parks, galleries, libraries, youth and play services, as well as cultural partners and MCRactive, have pulled out all the stops to help create a fantastic Manchester summer of fun.

From sports camps, interactive exhibitions, family events and outdoor adventure, to arts and crafts, youth clubs and debating groups – there's something for all ages and abilities.

The summer-long programme also includes some targeted sessions aimed at groups of young people who might need additional support.

All the information on what to do and where to go can be found on a brand new website launching this week which is a one-stop shop for all culture, leisure, and sports activities in Manchester.  Go straight to the website here

Councillor Garry Bridges, Executive Member for Children and Schools, Manchester City Council, said: "After another year of lockdowns and missing out on activities and time with their friends, it's more important than ever that our children and young people can get out and about and have fun this summer.

"We know how difficult it's been for them and for parents, so we've worked extra hard this year with partners across the city to make sure there's something for everyone.  So, take a look, get out there, stay safe, and get involved!"
