2019’s Pride of Manchester award went to Emmie’s Kitchen. Emmie’s Kitchen provide meals for the parents of children who are patients at Manchester Children’s hospital. They care for the wellbeing of the parents and offer them a space to unwind during troubling times.

Emmie’s Kitchen, the 2019 winners, said:

“Winning the award was a real recognition of our hard work and it showed us how much we could achieve.

“It was a good morale boost and provided us with the confidence to power through the pandemic and to really commit to the charity. Winning the Be Proud Awards also gave us a platform to draw attention to a forgotten community and show that they need support too.”

Councillor Rabnawaz Akbar, Executive Councillor for Neighbourhoods, said:

“After the past two years it comes with great pride that we can gather together to recognise the exceptional work that local unsung heroes do daily and continued to do throughout the pandemic.

“The Be Proud Awards are an excellent opportunity to celebrate the important contribution of individuals and local community groups and thanking them for their unwavering support in both the past and the future."

“I am thrilled to be able to meet the local heroes that hold our communities together.”
