Please tell us your views about the proposal for Manchester Libraries
12. Do you agree with the proposed city-wide library strategy to maintain a network of Central Library and 13 neighbourhood libraries (The Avenue, Beswick, Brooklands, Chorlton, Crumpsall, Didsbury, Forum, Gorton, Hulme, Longsight, Newton Heath, North City and Withington).

13. If funding is withdrawn from certain libraries, Manchester Libraries would look to put in place a small outreach library or community book collection, if at all possible.  These services would be offered in an alternative local community building, delivered by a partner or community organisation.

On the basis of our experiences in other parts of the city, we fully expect to be able to develop the community option but, though very unlikely, if we could not it would lead to the withdrawal of the service.

Do you agree with the proposal to withdraw funding and to develop an outreach library or community book collection to replace:

Burnage Library

  Fallowfield Library

  Levenshulme Library

  Miles Platting Library

  New Moston Library

  Northenden Library

14. If we were to establish an outreach library or community book collection, where do you think this should be located? Please tick all that apply.

15. If you would be affected by the proposed changes to library services in Manchester, what other options would you consider in order to access library services in the future? Please tick all that apply.
16. Do you agree with the proposal to reinstate lunchtime opening at libraries across the city ?
17. If these proposals were agreed, would any of these options have an impact on you and your family?

18. In other parts of the country libraries are being run by local groups and communities.  Is this something you would be interested in - or do you know of a community group who would be interested?

19. Would you be interested in volunteering to help people in your community access a range of library services in the future?
20. If yes what would you like to do? (Please note that this is an expression of interest not a commitment at this stage)

If you are happy for Manchester City Council to contact you about volunteering, please provide your contact details below.

Equality questions
We would like to ask you some questions about yourself.  These questions are optional, you do not have to answer, but if you do, you will be helping Manchester City Council ensure that the views collected through the consultation represent the views of the resident population.  All responses will remain confidential.
